Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Valid Driver’s license
  3. Experience in security or other related areas.
  4. Have attended or be able to attend required training

Job Goal:                  

Supports and facilitates the educational process within the Western Line School District by providing a safe and secure environment through building and establishing meaningful relationships with students and staff and proactively interacting with the school community to ensure the enforcement of school rules and regulations.  The School Safety Officer will patrol district property to protect students, staff and visitors from physical harm and prevent loss of district property resulting from criminal activity.

 

Performance Responsibilities and Duties Include:

 

  1. Patrol district property for suspicious activity, unauthorized persons on campus, or unauthorized entry before or after hours, or during after-school events.
  2. Work closely with the principal and SRO to foster a better understanding of law enforcement function to maintain a secure learning environment.
  3. Proactively work with school’s leadership team on safety protocols and procedures.
  4. Conduct routine patrols of assigned facilities to include buildings, parking lot, and athletic fields.
  5. Work collaboratively with public safety agencies to deter criminal and delinquent behavior.
  6. Coordinate security for crowd and vehicle control at extra-curricular activities and special events as requested.
  7. Monitor and instruct students, visitors, and district personal on proper lawful campus or facility behavior
  8. Foster and maintain a respectful code of conduct on district properties at all district events.
  9. Assist law enforcement agencies with incidents involving local criminal activity that may impact the safety of the environment for students and staff.
  10. Prepare written reports, maintain daily logs and assist with Bullying or other investigations by the School Resource Officer.
  11. Assist in the development of the School Safety plan, conducting building safety assessments and monitoring potential ‘hot spots’ for inappropriate activity.
  12. Monitor the building and grounds during the day for persons on campus without a badge or visitors pass.
  13. Assume other responsibilities or perform other task as the Principal or Superintendent may from time to time assign.

 

 

 

Terms of                     197 days a year. Salary to be established by the Board.
