JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the immediate supervision of the cafeteria manager or assistant cafeteria manager, the food service worker assists in preparing and serving a wide variety of different foods. They may assemble simple dishes, handle specific parts of a process, or cook large quantities of a certain food. Generally speaking, the job requires operating food preparation equipment and machinery, such as fryers, stoves, mixers, freezers, or choppers. Food service employees may also be responsible for conducting inventory, serving customers, cleaning the preparation and dining areas, and may act as cashier and/or point of sale attendant.

ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stocking and rotating food supplies and non-food products.
- Cold and hot food preparation including cooking, steaming, and baking
- Customer food service to students, staff, faculty, and guests
- Cash handling and cashier operations
- Cleaning, mopping, sanitation, and trash removal from the kitchen and dining room
- Assisting with numerous duties, including taking inventory and checking in food/supplies.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager and assistant manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma (preferred)
- ServSafe Certification (preferred)
- Pass a criminal background check for hiring
- Must be physically able to stand for seven (7) continuous hours
- Experience in the food service industry
PERFORMANCE:
- Follows oral and written directions.
- Serves in any food service related capacity during emergency situations.
- Follows all safe handling of food according to federal, state, and local authorities. Observes safety rules in addition to rules governing the operation of the food service department.
- Follows all safe handling of food service equipment.
- Maintains an attitude of helpfulness toward children and adults.
- Maintains cleanliness of work areas.
- Reports promptly for work based on the daily work schedule.
- Job may require lifting up to 40 pounds and working in temperatures as low as zero degrees.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten (10) months; Salary to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
